We are a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the community of Northeast Louisiana, serving children and adults with developmental disabilities and children in need.

Who are We? Civitan...

Civitans are everyday people within your community who come together to support organizations devoted to the improvement of lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Civitan’s flagship program is the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) Civitan International Research Center located within the medical campus of UAB. This research center is dedicated solely to research dealing with developmental disabilities.

West Monroe Civitan has a long history of support with area agencies such as G.B. Cooley, ARCO, Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Louisana and is a member of the Admirals Club of the Research Center at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama.

The West Monroe Civitan Club is the proud sponsor of the annual ARK-LA-MISS Fair and Livestock Show, which is currently held at the Monroe Civic Center facilities. West Monroe Civitan members work diligently with promoters to provide an annual event that brings smiles to children and parents alike. Please visit our ARK-LA-MISS Fair web page to learn more.

The West Monroe Civitan Club also maintains scholarships at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) and Louisiana Tech University. These scholarships are awarded to eligible students in their pursuit of an education in the medical fields associated with the treatment of persons with developmental disabilities.
